The SAOAF Repayment Pledge

Last updated: October 2026

In September 2023, the South African Open Air Rock Festival (SAOAF) took place at Tweefontein Melkery in Kempton Park. The event was run by Brad Swenson under the Doors Rock Radio brand. Due to significantly lower-than-expected ticket sales, the available funds were used to cover the venue and essential suppliers. The performing bands were left unpaid.

Janine Doubell has since taken over The Doors Nightclub brand. As part of that arrangement, 20% of net profit from every Doors Nightclub event goes directly toward repaying the bands and creditors who were left out of pocket. This is not a legal obligation. It is a commitment to the community that built this scene.

The repayment order is decided by the community. Every rand paid out is logged here publicly. Payments are updated after each event.
